The 550-Type Post Oil Injection System is a high-capacity vacuum coating solution designed for the precision application of liquids to extruded pellets. Scaling up from the 450-type, the "550" typically signifies a larger batch capacity—often around 550 liters—making it the preferred choice for medium-to-large-scale feed mills and pet food production facilities that require high throughput without sacrificing coating quality.

The Vacuum Advantage

The primary function of the 550-type system is to solve the "fat leakage" problem. In high-energy feeds (such as salmon or high-performance dog food), oil levels can reach up to 25-35%. If applied at atmospheric pressure, the oil only coats the surface, leading to greasy pellets that clog machinery. The 550-type uses a vacuum chamber to evacuate air from the pellet’s micro-pores. When the oil is sprayed and the vacuum is broken, the returning air pressure drives the liquids deep into the core, resulting in a dry, clean exterior and a nutritionally dense interior.

Technical Features

Dual-Shaft Agitation: Most 550-type models utilize twin-shaft paddle mixers to ensure gentle but thorough movement, preventing pellet breakage (fines) while ensuring 100% liquid coverage.

Automated Weighing: Integrated load cells provide real-time feedback to the control system, adjusting liquid injection amounts based on the actual weight of the dry pellets in the batch.

Multi-Stage Injection: The system can handle a sequence of liquids, such as applying fats first, followed by heat-sensitive enzymes or flavoring agents, ensuring that expensive additives remain stable and effective.
